The Sedona is the fourth new vehicle from Kia in two years, and like every other Kia, its great value. With dual sliding doors granting access to three rows of seating, a 5 speed automatic and a 195 bhp V6 standard equipment, it’s a surprise the price can be kept so low. Offered in base LX and more stylish EX trim, the Sedona has all the goods we have come to expect from better known models. Standard items include cruise control, a rear window defroster, tilt steering column, variable intermittent front wipers and a rear window wiper/ washer. The only engine, a quad cam 3.5 liter 24 valve V6 puts out plenty of power and torque to haul the kids and all camping gear into the hills. Other standard options are front power windows, power mirrors and door locks, front and rear air conditioning, and multiple auxiliary power jacks for cell phone chargers, laptops, electric shavers and the like. Weighing in 4700 lb, the Sedona is a heavyweight that makes good use of its front MacPherson struts and rear beam axle, giving a smooth yet responsive ride.
With all aft seats removed the Sedona offers 127.5 cubic feet of cargo room. That is plenty of space for s couple to store a month’s worth of vacation supplies. If you want to take the children with you there is 70.6 cu.ft available with the second row of seats installed. Taking along three kids, a dog and all the seats leaves but 21.8 cu.ft, still more than a full size sedan truck. With its 150.5 cu.ft of interior space, the Sedona feels roomy, even with four full size adult aboard.
