Ettore Bugatti launched its first Type 2 concept car in the year 1900. This prototype provided an inspiration for the later-developed Dietrich-Bugatti Type 2, designed as well as assembled at the Baron de Dietrich’s Niederbronn factory in Alsace, France. The car was featuring a 3.1L inline-4 engine and also offered the base for cars such as upcoming Type 3, Type 4 and Type 5 models. This was discontinued a year later and after few months winning an award at the 1901 Milan Automobile Exhibition. The baron of Dietrich liked this car and with the Bugatti, he began production of De Dietrich-Bugatti cars in 1902.
