After a complete makeover two years ago, the Toyota 4Runner is not likely to see major changes for 2012. The SR5, Trail and Limited additions currently available should return for 2012, and with them will come the 4.0L V-6 engine delivering a total of 270 horsepower. Drivers have long noted that 4Runner seems to perform slightly better in off-road ventures than expected, and less so under highway conditions. A newer suspension system and changes to the chassis itself are not expected to occur, meaning 4Runner’s handling for 2012 will be the same as before. Toyota has been concerned with the gas mileage on a number of their vehicles; 4Runner could use an extra mile or two per gallon.
