

The 1972 Chevrolet El Camino SS offered engines such as 307 V-8, a 175 horsepower 350-cubic-inch V-8 and a big block V8s of the 402 and 454 cubic-inch displacements. The 402-cubic-inch was able to produce 240 horsepower and 454 were able to produce 270 horsepower under net rating system. Super Sport equipment was also provided with any V-8 engine which also includes base 307-cubic-inch version. The 1972 Chevrolet El Camino SS models also had W as the fifth digit in vin number. It also had single-unit parking/side marker lights on its front fenders, outside the revised twin-bar grille with a little change.
