The McLaren M6A was a racing car which was introduced for the first time at the Can-Am season in 1967. The car took Bruce McLaren and his team to their first of multiple Can-Am championships. The McLaren M6A featured first monocoque chassis that was made by McLaren and the bodywork was particularly designed to increase the down force suited for the Can-Am circuits. It was later used for the development of closed-cockpit sports car and further it was replaced by M6B. About 2 M6GTs were changed into road cars and one of them was used by Bruce McLaren for his personal transport.
