The Nissan Silvia S10 was first rear-wheel-drive, sporty car platform introduced from the company. It was available with a L18 I4 engine for the Japanese market along with mandated 5-mph bumpers and was based on the B210. The Nissan Silvia S10 had very little success as it had a tough competition from Celica which also offered almost the same features. The car also had more traditional lines when compared to similar offerings from Toyota and Mazda which were less popular in most of the markets. For the North American market it featured a larger-displacement L20B. The car was also available in the name Datsun 200SX in some of the markets.
