Lada Riva has many other indications such as Lada 2105, Lada 2107, Lada Nova, Lada 1500 and Lada Laika. The car was announced in the early 1981. Even though, the origns of the car are older because it is basically a restyled version of the original Lada VAZ 2101. If you look under the hood you will see that mechanically the car is actually identical as the VAZ 2101 model – it has Fiat transmissions, coil spring suspension and aluminum drugm brakes situated on the rear wheels. The smaller variant of engine is 1.2 and the biggest one is 1.7. The OHC-engine has the valves actuated by chain. The body styles are 4 door sedan and 5 door estate Anyway, major problems with the safety and emissions legislation were the main reason for the withdrawal of Lada Riva from most of the countries in Western Europe in 1997. The car is produced even nowadays, but the sales are not big and this is why the company is small. Probably the biggest mistake of the Russian engineers was the overlooking of design, safety and comfort while driving. If they have realized their mistake on time more people would have bought their car.
The car was produced in Suzuki concern in Egypt for a short amount of time but the sales in that area were not enough big to satisfy the Russian car company and the investment was too big so they cancelled the assembling of Lada Riva in Egypt.
