The sports coupe of Mercedes-Benz 300SL was first announced in the early sixties of the last century. It has a regular 3L 6 cylinder engine and 240 hp. The car scored a great success and scored lots of sales in spite of the fact that its price was really high for that time. What makes the vehicle so special is its design which was quite innovative for this period (1960s). It is a two seat closed car. The Mercedes-Benz has one modification in which the doors are opening upwards and are called gull-wing doors. Later the car was offered as an open roadster. Other things that make the car so special is that it was the fastest production car for its days. The model was suggested by Max Hoffman and the car was offered in the American Market as well.
Mercedes-Benz 300SL has 4.5 meters of length, 1.8 meters of width and 1.3 meters of height. The mass of the car is 110 kg and the used platform was the one from Mercedes-Benz W198. American people used to call it “a race car for the street” since it was the fastest production car for its days as it was mentioned above. Also the car had the first direct injection which was a great success for its time. Basically this is a classic model and the older it gets the more expensive it will be.
