Next week in Runanotech 2011 the management of AutoVAZ is going to present the first prototype of an electrical Lada. The new model goes by the name ElLada but representatives of the Russian automobile company told us that the car is not for mass production yet.
The electric vehicle is made on the platform of Lada Kalina but the difference here is that ElLada is a wagon with large and functional interior. The Russian engineers are proud that their product is better than most of its western analogues.
ElLada is recharged by a standard household outlet using 220 volts and its full recharging is completed within eight hours. The batteries are lithium-ion and according to non-official information they are made in China. The standalone mode mileage in the city is 150 kilometers. The max speed of Lada ElLada is 140km/h while the standard acceleration (0-100 km/h) takes 12 seconds. Although at this stage a mass production of the vehicle is not planned, the Russian engineers said that it was not because of them. If they want this to happen, first there should be a good infrastructure for a car of this kind. As a whole the electric cars are not really practical at this stage of development. Maybe after 20-30 years the things will be different.
