The French car company Peugeot announced that in the beginning of 2014 they have serious intensions to try their luck in the premium segment. This will happen with the help of their latest mid-class model 608. The information is not official yet, but according to it the new car of the “lions” will be based on the showed early this year concept HX1 this year in Frankfurt.
The interesting fact of the future top-car Peugeot is that the vehicle will be manufactured only as a wagon. Its length is going to be 4950 mm, width – 1990mm. If those sizes are real then this car will be better than the Mercedes-Benz R-Klasse. The car will use mainly diesel engines – the choice is various and it starts from 163 hp reaching 275 hp. There will be a hybrid version as well, equipped with electric engine of 95 hp.
So far the most luxurious cars of Peugeot – 604, 605, 607 have never been a risk to the German leaders in this segment. The French engineers are hoping that they will change this with the 608. The price is not announced but when the information is confirmed as official the numbers will be relealed.
