The ford model t was manufactured by the ford motor company around 1908. It has several colloquial names like t, t-model ford, flivver, tin lizzie etc. It is the regarded as the first automobile that the common middle class could afford. Ford crafted its innovations into it and assembly line production was planned for it. The ford model t received an international polling as the car of the 20th century. The year 1908 became historic because of model t. model t was designed by Joseph A. Galamb, Childe Harold Willis and Eugene Farkas who lead a team of other men. Model t was a rear wheel drive with planetary gear system. Model t was a two speed automobile with another one which was the reverse. The person who drove it could do so without having to keep a pedal floored to keep the car in motion. This car did not have any pedal to serve as the clutch. The middle pedal served as the reverse gear and the right one as the brake. Vanadium steel was used to construct all the pedals and they functioned in an oil bath. The wheels of model t were made of wood identical to artillery wheels. These were later supplemented with steel-welded spokes. The car had clincher type pneumatic tires. In 1925 balloon tires came around. Initially, the headlights, horn, radiator and other small parts were made of brass. Between 1908 – 1914, model-t was only available in colors like green grey red and blue out of which grey and red were for the town and tour cars respectively.
