The French car manufacturer Renault launched the Clio in 1990. Presently Clio survives its third generation. Since its launch, Clio has been among Europe’s top selling cars. Clio has been awarded the Europe’s car of the year honor twice. India is looking forward to welcoming the Clio’s launch here. The first generation Clio or Clio 1 had its debut in the 1990 Paris motor show. The Renault 5 was largely replaced by the Clio. In order to abide by the new pollution regulation terms, Clio 1 had systems to inject fuel electronically which replaced the usual carburetors for petrol engines. Renault’s original ribbed diamond badge was redesigned into a smooth diamond badge with the simultaneous introduction of the Clio 1. A single slat grille that was color coded was made to replace the two metal ribs in the front grille. The bumpers were enlarged and made rounder along with the incorporation of the trim level badge on the bumpers. The tailgate had the badge instead of the tailgate strip and the tailgate strip was remodeled with a new carbon fiber look. The Clio phase 3 had different features like more rounded headlights, incorporation of the turn signal with the headlights, increase in the curvature of the bonnet around the headlights along with some other mechanical advancement. The Clio 2 was introduced in the springtime of 1998 followed by the Clio 3 in the Frankfurt motor show in 2005. Both Clio 1 and 2 remain in circulation.
