Among other news, Vauxhall will present at the Geneva Motor Show the new Astra OPC, the sporty Astra GTC’s mechanical platform. If until now we could see the new model in studio pictures, now we can definitely admire the first copy, reported this week in Palma de Mallorca.
The high-performance version based on the mechanics of the GTC is powered by a 2.0 liter engine with direct injection that develops 280 horsepower and a peak torque of 400 Nm. Thus equipped, the coupe has a top speed electronically limited at 250 km / h, making it the fastest Astra ever.
“Coating” is characterized by a series of elements that ensure its sporty nature. The exterior is distinguished by the set of front and rear bumpers special carved, side sills, aerodynamic roof spoiler and two exhaust pipes with trapezoidal shape. The cabin is equipped with performing seats and an OPC sport steering wheel covered with leather and special tools.
To guarantee notable performances, the Opel engineers choose HiPerStrut advanced front suspension (High Performance Strut) as an equipment and Astra GTC chassis for the control system FlexRide fully adaptive, which allows the driver to optimize damping characteristics, speed reaction of the steering and accelerator system driven by pushing a simple button ”Sport” and “OPC”.
The greatest benefit of stability and maneuver ability, the new Opel Astra OPC comes with a limited slip differential on the front axle.
The sport coupe will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show and will be launched on the market the next summer.
