The three door version of the Ford Focus ST 2011 will not exist in the new generation of the model, it will be replaced by the Capri compact coupe.
Ford will not offer the next generation of Focus the three door version, this means that it will be replaced by a stand alone coupe so it will return the name Capri into the auto industry. This is the answer given by Ford for VW Scirocco and Opel Astra GTC’s future, which Mark Adams, the vice president of Opel design, called ”pure-blood rival for VW Scirocco.”
According to international media, a first announced concept of the new Ford Capri will see day light at the Detroit Auto Show (January 2011), which will be released - as in the case of the new Focus - on all world markets in the same form. Similarities with the Focus will not stop here, because the design of the new Ford Capri will take over many elements of his five door compact brother.
Regarding the new Ford Capri engine, the manufacturer will not appeal to American technical fireworks, this means that it will use the same units that we have at this time. Thus, the new top engine for the compact coupe will be the Ford’s EcoBoost 2.5 liter and 250 hp, which will be accompanied by less than 200 hp engine in the Ford range, and a diesel as a default. Differences to the future Focus ST version will appear, not only at the number of doors, but even on the back, the shape and its own weight, which in the case of Capri will be somehow reduced.
