The new sedan that will replace the current Peugeot 607 promises to set new standards in design, refinement and quality when it is launched at the Paris Motor Show in October 2008.
The car, which in all probability will be called 608, will have a more daring design than the model it will replace, this being the fault of the new head of the Peugeot Design, Jerome Gallix, which is his first major project since the appointment.
The Peugeot features, like the front grille, will be preserved, but the headlights will have a more aggressive look than those on 308 or 207.
In the photo stand out from the sides a highly profiled crease that begins and ends on the wing without the right boot as well as profiled side sills, rear lights and the C-pillar that contributes to the car’s sporty look.
As for inside, Gallix promises that it will be no problems for the car to be a rival for Audi or BMW and passengers will enjoy a great atmosphere, complemented by excellent materials and finishes.
The standard equipment level is generous in features, among with satellite navigation system generation and intelligent controls, which will give the car a higher feeling than the one on Ford Mondeo and Opel Insignia.
Future Peugeot 608 will be built on the same platform that was made the new Citroen C5, which translates into a very comfortable chassis and an excellent performance and unbeatable handling.
The range of engines will all be taken from the “sister” C5 and will include versions like the diesel in 4 cylinder and 2.0, 2.2 liter engines, so that the top of the range and will be also a 2.7 liter diesel V6.
