

The Lotus 49 is a Formula One car that was introduced at the 1967 F1 season. The car developed by Cosworth DFV engine and it one of the most Formula One car till date. It features a 2.993 liter, 4-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 410 bhp at 9200 rpm and ZF 5DS-12 5-speed Manual. The chassis featured an aluminum monocoque along with front subframe as well as fully stressed engine. There were also lower wishbone, coil springs over dampers, top links, coil springs over dampers, twin radius arms and anti-roll bar. The Lotus 49 had a wheelbase of 2413 mm, length of 4026 mm, width of 1880 mm, height of 787 mm and it also weighed about 1168.4 lbs. It had a very advanced design compared to the other F1 cars due to its chassis configuration and it has been tested foe other new cars of racecar technology and presentation. The car was driven by Graham Hill during the testing and the won its first race which was driven by Jim Clark at the Zandvoort. The car was originally expected to replace the Lotus 63, but it had proved to be failure that left the way to the Lotus 49 which achieved 12 wins for 2 driver and constructors world championships. About 12 cars were developed during the period and only 7 are expected to remain till date where one has been displayed at the National Motor Museum in Hampshire.
