

The Porsche 964 Speedster is a standard or lightweight trim model which was similar to Porsche 930 turbo and it was first introduced at the Frankfurt auto show. It was available with a 3.6-liter air-cooled flat six 12-valve engine that is capable of producing about 260 hp at 6100 rpm and a torque of 232 lb-ft at 4800 rpm. The car also features a 5-speed manual along with modified gear ratios. This was first sports car from the company that faced a commercial success in the market. The Porsche 964 Speedster has a wheelbase of 2,271 mm, length of 4,275 mm, width of 1,651 mm and a height of 1,311 mm. It also had independent MacPherson struts, antiroll bar, bilstein telescopic dampers and coil springs in the front. In the rear, the car features a semi-trailing arms, bilstein telescopic dampers, coil springs and antiroll bar. There were also 4-piston calipers along with cross-drilled and ventilated rotors in the front as well as the rear. The car was based on the new Carrera 2 platform, but it had no Turbo look and wide-body style. The interior was available with features such as power windows, air conditioning and a stereo. About 3000 units were planned to be produced by the company in the year 1992, but only 936 units were produced which had a production period for around 2 years. The Porsche 964 Speedster was available with manually folding pram-like hood along with soft top for inclement weather.
