

The Bugatti Type 53 is a racing car that was introduced in the year 1932 with a four wheel drive. It was the first racing model that was available with to drive in all four wheels. The car also features a 4.9 litre engine that is capable of producing about 300 bhp along with a 3 speed manual transmission. It features a only independent front suspension system which was ever approved to be used by the Ettore Bugatti. The Bugatti Type 53 was very difficult to steer and it was first introduced at the 1932 Monaco Grand Prix. Albert Divo was the first driver to ride this vehicle, but he practicing after he got exhausted. The hard steering did not have having constant-velocity joints at the front half shafts. The vehicle won its first race at the 1934 La Turbie hill climb which was driven by Rene Dreyfus with an average speed of around 62 mph. Robert Benoist was another driver who won the 1935 Chateau-Thierry hill climb before retiring. About two units were developed where one was developed by the factory which was assembled from the factory parts and the second one was taken to the English Shelsley Walsh hill climb by Ettore Bugatti. The Bugatti Type 53 was recently seen at the Retromobile Paris show in the year 2002. The vehicle had a wheelbase of 2600 mm and it had leaf springs which were robust and had strong mounting points.
