

The Renault 3 is a 5-door hatchback low budget model of the Renault 4 supermini with smaller engine and it was produced from 1961 to 1962. The car which was first introduced at the Paris Salon was available with a 603 cc engine that was able to produce about 3 hp along with a 3-speed transmission. This model was available for purchase only in France with grey color along with a minor change of shade on later versions. The car was a very basic model with simple and spartan look and its bumpers were painted with the same color as the bodywork. The Renault 3 had a length of 367 cm, width of 149 cm, height of 155 cm and it had a weight of around 570 kg. The car had a fuel tank with a capacity of 26 liters and it was capable of reaching a top speed of around 90 km/h. It was introduced without a third side window, but it featured a screen washer, hubcaps and interior door linings. During the production period, this model was considered to be very mean and also avoided the cost of chrome plating. The Renault 3 grille has been limited to a grid cut in the hood. About 2526 units were produced during the production period of the car and only 11 units were in running order. This is one of the highly coveted models by collectors worldwide as it is very hard to find.
