

The Caterham CT01 is a Formula One car that is currently competing in the 2012 Formula One season. It also features a 2,400 cc naturally aspirated, mid-mounted V8 engine that is limited to 18,000 rpm. The car is available with a 7-speed semi-automatic gearbox along with a reverse gear. It has been specially developed by under the leadership of the technical director Mike Gascoyne. This is the third model that has been designed by the team and it is also the first to feature the new name of the team. Most of the features included in the car are very similar to the previous models from the company. The Caterham CT01 is the first model that has been introduced for the 2012 season by the company. An online launch was initially planned by the company on 26 January and later it was cancelled and released a day earlier instead. Jarno Trulli was replaced by Heikki Kovalainen and Vitaly Petrov after the first test held at Jerez. The car is available with a similar green and yellow livery along with other designs that are very much of the last year’s Lotus model. The Caterham CT01 also features an odd-looking stepped nose design along with a reshaped rear quarters. It has Kinetic Energy Recovery System on the brake which has been included in the car for the first time. Caterham is the new name of Team Lotus which has been reclaimed from Malaysian outfit.
