

The Seat Formula is a mid-engine roadster concept car that was first unveiled at the 1999 Geneva Salon international de l’ auto show. The name of the car itself derives from the brand’s heritage as a reminder of the development of Spanish Formula Nacional race tracks back in the 1960s. The car features a water-cooled 2.0 liter 20-valve turbo 4-cylinder, Turbocharged I4 engine that is capable of producing about 240 hp at 5800 rpm and a torque of 295 Nm at 2100 to 4800 rpm. It also features a rear-wheel drive along with a 6-speed sequential Sportronic electro-hydraulic semi-automatic gearbox. This model was able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 4.8 seconds along with an estimated top speed of around 235 km/h. The Seat Formula has a wheelbase of 2,523 mm, length of 3,943 mm, width of 1,758 mm, height of 1,152 mm and it also weighs about 2,000 lb. It also features a 20 inch light alloy wheels along with a 205/45 R20 front tires and 255/35 R20 rear tires. It has been mounted onto an independent suspension system which includes Formula One-style wishbones at the front and horizontally mounted dampers rear system. The front and rear wheels were available with ventilated disc brakes. The Seat Formula was developed at the Volkswagen Group’s Design Center Europe which was jointly owned by Volkswagen, Audi and SEAT. The car was specially developed expecting to enter into a limited production, but it failed to succeed.
