The Toyota GRMN Sports Hybrid is a small mid-engine concept car which is based on the MR2 version. It is also the updated model of the first concept car of the same which was unveiled at the 2010 Tokyo Auto Salon. The car has been powered by a 3.5 liter Type 2GR-FXE V6 engine that is capable of producing about 249 hp along with a front electric motor which can help to increase the output to 299 hp. The engine has been mounted in the central position which will be transmitting the power to the rear wheels. The Toyota GRMN Sports Hybrid will be available with a weight of less than 1,500 kg which is very in line with this type of convertible models. The car will be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 5 seconds range and it also has a completely new look. It has been developed by using lot of carbon fiber and the hybrid powertrain has been adjusted for the new model. This model is a development of last year’s racing prototype and it also features a brand new body when compared to the first concept. The Toyota GRMN Sports Hybrid has been specially built by Toyota and its motorsports partner Gazoo Racing. It was introduced at the 24-hour endurance race at the Nurburgring in Germany in the year 2011. The car may attract most of the convertible buyers if it enters into production in the near future.
