This will be the an all-electric version of the standard Chevrolet Spark which is available in the market place such as Europe and Latin America. It is based on the current EV market and it has been powered by a nanophosphate lithium-ion battery supplied by A123 Systems along with a electric motor that is capable of producing 114 hp and sustained power of 75 hp. The Chevrolet Spark EV will be the all-electric passenger car that has been marketed by the General Motors in the U.S. The design is considering feedback from the participants in electric vehicle demonstration fleets held by Chevrolet in India as Beat EV, Shanghai as Sail EV, and Korea as Cruze EV. This is expected to be a perfect choice of vehicle for those who live in urban areas with predictable driving patterns. It is also expected to complement the growing range of Chevrolet’s electrified vehicles in the market including Volt extended-range EV and 2013 Malibu Eco along with eAssist technology. The Chevrolet Spark EV batteries would be utilizing nanoparticles to increase the storage surface area of the battery cell as well as facilitate quicker storage and release of electrons. The company is planning to compete with other electric vehicles which are pending from other automakers with this new model.
