Opel presented the first official images and pieces of information about their new Astra sedan. This new body variant completes the line-seller of the German manufacturer, which also contains the five-door hatchback, wagon and the sporty GTC version. Opel claims that Astra sedan will be a much cheaper option, but without compromising its class models. The new Opel model is available with a wide range of engines, counting a total of seven power units, four petrol and three diesel. The gasoline engines have a power between 100 and 180 hp and can be linked to an automatic gearbox with six reports. Opel offers to their customers two 1.7 liter diesel engines with standard Start & Stop system, producing 110 hp and respectively130 hp. The average fuel consumption for these power units is situated somewhere around 3.7 liters per 100 km. Opel Astra sedan maintains that it is offering very good ergonomics space for both passengers and baggage. The German model measures 4.65 m long, 1.81 m wide and 1.47 m height. The loading is abut 460 liters of usable space, which may increase by folding the rear seats (60:40) to 1010 liters. In terms of design, Astra sedan relies on elegance and flowing lines, elements that are very popular in the Western Europe, says Karl Starcke – the Opel CEO. As states and Stracke main market for Astra sedan will be the Western Europe followed by the Eastern part of the old continent, especially Russia and Turkey.
