The Jeep Liberty CRD Limited is a special edition vehicle that was first unveiled in the year 2002 with styling that has been inspired by the Dakar and Jeepster show cars. It was available with two new PowerTech engines such as 2.4 liter I4 engine that is capable of producing about 150 hp and another 3.7 liter V6 engine that was able to generate around 210 hp. The vehicle was also the first model to feature an independent suspension which was previously used in the Jeep Wagoneer in the 1960s. It also featured a 2.8 liter VM Motori turbo diesel engine which was specially used in the CRD models. The Jeep Liberty CRD Limited has been very successful during its production period and it became the best-selling compact SUV in the United States. About 10,000 Liberty CRD models were sold for the customers all across the country and after one year into production this model was cancelled as the diesel engine couldn’t meet the upcoming emissions regulations. About 70 percent of buyers of this model were new to the Jeep marque and Toledo North Assembly factory which was located in Toledo, Ohio was running overtime to produce the model. The Jeep Liberty CRD Limited also faced problems with the front suspension lower ball joint and the company had recalled few of their models. There were also problems such as loss of steering and other well known problems in the SUVs which led to recall.
