

The De Tomaso Vallelunga Fantuzzi Spyder is a racing car that was introduced during the year 1966 and only one unit was produced by the company. It was unveiled at the 1st Exhibition of racing cars that was held in Turin as a prototype model and also took part in few races only. The car was available with a 4-cylinder, 998 cm engine that was specially made for the racing and Formula 2 which was splitting in half along with the necessary modifications. This model was built on the chassis center girder of the De Tomaso Vallelunga and it was also had the same suspension of the contemporary single-seater De Tomaso Formula 3. The De Tomaso Vallelunga Fantuzzi Spyder was originally designed to have an engine with a capacity of 1 and 2 liters when it was first introduced in Turin, the company planned to have an engine BRM of Formula 2 along with fenders to accommodate larger wheels. The engine was able to generate a power of 129 bhp and it was mounted at an angle of 18 degree along with 5-speed transmission. The De Tomaso Vallelunga Fantuzzi Spyder was capable of reaching from 0-60 mph in about 6 seconds along with a top speed of around 220 km/h because of its low power and weight ratio which was 570 kg only. The car also featured a Lucas mechanical fuel injection which was much lighter when compared to the Cosworth unit.
