Developed at Okazaki (Japan) – the global center of research and development of MMC – in less than two years, the future of Global Small project is designed to combine all requirements “eco / compact” in one package such as not to assume subsequent adjustments. The start of production is planned for early 2012 a new plant of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, which is currently built in Thailand.
Mitsubishi is proposed as a start model for emerging markets and as an effective vehicle in terms of fuel consumption in the developed countries. As a result, the new e-compact project will be the answer for some of the fundamental truths of MMC:
With 80% of total exported production, Mitsubishi Motors takes in consider the trends of globalization of trade and communications regardless of the market segment.
The fast growing markets like China, ASEAN countries and other emerging areas (50% of global markets by 2013), MMC aims to meet growing demands regarding mobility through those affordable and efficient compact cars in terms of the consumption fuel.
In markets such as Japan, North America or those, which are developed in Europe, reducing the size and efficiency are the key elements of the environmental compliance, providing in addition, the products from the B segment, cover the needs related to the engine.
In the context of exchange rate volatility, but both, in an effort to serve all the world markets involving small vehicles – by definition – low margins, Mitsubishi Motors will need to obtain a high level of efficiency thanks to the concept of all the facility production in the world.
