Keneth Cobonque and Albrecht Birkner designers are not related to the automotive domein, dealing with furniture and interiors of homes in particular. However, they wanted to fire a warning about the cars that are rusting on many roads in the world, so they created Phoenix.
Phoenix is a car, although it looks much more like a lounge chair with wheels. In fact, it is the first biodegradable car in the world because its body is made of bamboo and rattan, which carry out many pieces of furniture. Designers explain this: current cars, which have metal bodies, resists much longer than is normally necessary and, through all the degradation and air pollutant.
In the case of Phoenix, the body is designed to withstand as needed for a normal user (five years in civilized countries and more than 20 years in developing countries). Bamboo and rattan body can be achieved under the potential customer tastes and specifications, and the metal can also be configured in various ways.
Basically, if your car looks boring and you want a change, the body can change very quickly – for Phoenix, for example, it took only 10 days as designers to shape a body of about 3.1 meters long, which is suitable for the urban traffic.
Designers were not dealt with the propulsion system, but it is clear that a small electric motor is the best for Phoenix. A car that can proudly wear the title of “green car”. And it is much easier to achieve than a car made of wood …
