The Bentley 3-Litre Speed was first unveiled at the Olympia Motor Show in the year 1919. The first model was not a fully functional and complete car which only had a rolling chassis along with a mock-up engine. The standard vehicle was available with a front, longitudinally mounted, straight 4 engine that is able to generate 70 bhp at 3500 rpm along with a C-Type 4-speed manual gearbox and a rear wheel drive option. The front and rear suspension had a live axle, friction dampers and semi-elliptic leaf springs. The engine’s sleeve was its valve-train with a single overhead camshaft and four valves per cylinder through the rockers. The Bentley 3-Litre Speed was available with a wheelbase of 3302 mm and it also featured drum brakes at the rear axle for the first models and later model had brakes on all four corners. Apart from these this model had four-wheel brakes which were benefited from engine tweaks. In the present day, this model has been overlooked in favor of its larger engine and more than its exotic successors. The Bentley 3-Litre Speed was a big car with two spark plugs per cylinder along with twin carburetors and it was capable of reaching an estimated top speed of around 100 mph. The regular long stroke in this model was successful in providing a plenty of torque. About 513 units were produced by the company during its production from the year 1921 to 1927.
