The Audi A5 DTM is a two-door racing coupe that was first unveiled at the International Motor Show in the year 2011. The car is available with a V8 engine that is capable of producing about 460 hp along with a 6-speed transmission which is operated with paddle shifters in the steering wheel. The engine electronics run without fuses and central display is already used in Audi R8 LMS. This model has tire partner Hankook which is supplying larger and wider tires along with dimensions similar to the LMP2 sports cars. The Audi A5 DTM has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, length of 5.01 meters, width of 1.95 meters and ground height of 1.15 meters. The car features a safety fuel tank with a capacity of about 120 liters along with carbon fiber cell which would help cover the current distance without a refueling stop. The transmission at the rear and engine sub-frame at the front is same for all the DTM cars. The suspension in this model has been mounted to the shared components. The Audi A5 DTM has no air flow through the body and additional wings are not used which creates a stronger visual resemblance. The car appears lower and sturdier when compared to its previous models with which the company has won four of seven DTM titles. The body of the car has been built of carbon which is a new type of chassis with a hybrid construction.
