The BMW 503 Coupe is a 2+2 seater sports car which was first introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the year 1955. It was available with a 3168 cc light metal V8 engine that is capable of producing about 140 hp along with a 4-speed manual transmission. The car is able to reach 0-60 mph in about 13 seconds and a top speed of around 115 mph. The transmission was originally mounted remotely from both the engine and rear axle which was similar to its previous version. The BMW 503 Coupe was introduced with a wheelbase of 2,835 mm, length of 4,750 mm, width of 1,710 mm, height of 1,440 mm and it also weighed about 3,300 lb. This model was specially designed by the entrepreneurial auto-designer and it was based on the preliminary drafts which were prepared by Kurt Bredschneider. It was also expected to have a flamboyant shape along with rounded mudguards, but there were few regulations concerning the matters including the light positioning rendered such a form impractical. The BMW 503 Coupe was available with more square cornered look which emerged along with fully integrated wings which became future styling trends. The front suspension featured triangles, torsion bars and the rear suspension had live axle, hydraulic dampers, torsion bars, torque reaction couplings. The bodywork was made of aluminum and brake servo was also part of the standard equipment. The car also underwent minor changes during its production period.
