

The Audi Q7 Hybrid was first unveiled at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in the year 2005. It is the first hybrid vehicle from the company which has been powered by a 4.2 liter FSI direct-injection V8 petrol engine that is capable of producing about 350 bhp and a torque of 440 Nm. The vehicle also features an electric motor which adds extra 200 Nm of torque. This model is expected to reach a from 0-100 km/h in about 6.8 seconds and its fuel consumption figures are 12.0 liters per 100 kilometers which is around 13 percent less when compared to the standard model. The Audi Q7 Hybrid electric motor receives energy from the battery system which has been placed under the luggage compartment floor at the rear side. It is available with a tyre mobility system for repairing punctures located next to the battery compartment. The vehicle can be driven in three different operating states such as combustion engine or electric motor or two power sources together for acceleration. The Audi Q7 Hybrid electric motor alone is capable of propelling at speeds of around 30 km/h which is perfect for city travel. The Audi Q7 Hybrid also uses sunlight as a source of energy as it features integrated solar cells in the form of large-format glass sunroof which can be used as ventilation and air conditioning systems. It also has electrically powered power steering pump units and an auxiliary air conditioning compressor.
