

The Volvo 164 was a sedan that was first introduced Paris Motor Show and it was produced from the year 1968 to 1975. This model was offered as a 4-door sedan and it also had body and chassis components that were similar to the 144 forebear. The car has been powered by a 3.0 liter OHV straight 6-cylinder engine making it a first model equipped with this type of engine in 10 years. It was available with different transmission options such as 4-speed manual, 4-speed manual along with overdrive and 3-speed automatic transmission. The Volvo 164 was introduced with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm, length of 4,700 mm, width of 1,730 mm, height of 1,440 mm and it had a weight of around 3,199 lb. This model was available as an extension of the 140-series and it had a longer bonnet in the bigger engine along with a larger, more prominent grille. The interior features also include a faux wood dash and leather was available optional. The car also had different taillights and slightly revised sheet metal along with revised dash which featured face vents, grille and front bumper under the grille. The Volvo 164 was updated with new front seats along with a centrally mounted handbrake as well as different badging on the trunk lid and 6 segment taillights during its final production stages. Even though this model had poor gas mileage it was considered to be better than the American luxury cars.
