The Subaru B5-TPH is a concept vehicle that was first unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in the year 2005. It is available with a thin, 10-kW motor generator that is capable of producing a power of about 10 kW along with a torque of 150 Nm and the turbocharged Subaru Boxer Engine is able to generate 191 kW output along with 343 Nm torque. When the turbocharger is active it is able to produce excellent acceleration as well as fuel economy. The all-range performance of the vehicle has been enabled with the help of an electric motor that is specially developed to boost engine torque at low speeds. The Subaru B5-TPH gasoline engine features a Miller-cycle which leaves the intake valve open when there is a part of compression stroke which effectively reduced the compression stroke to avoid detonation. The new turbo boxer engine is able to operate up to 30 percent more efficiently when compared to a conventional gasoline engine which creates a low-cost solution with lively acceleration for the drivers. It also provides a high top speed along with low exhaust emissions and excellent fuel consumption. The Subaru B5-TPH Miller Cycle system also helps to reduce the pumping losses with its combustion expansion stroke and this system also makes the engine more sluggish at low speeds. The vehicle also features a large tailgate, full-time symmetrical all-wheel drive, low-centre-of-gravity, 200 mm ground clearance, fun driving of a coupe and all-terrain ability of an SUV.
