The Mazda Senku was first unveiled at the Canadian International AutoShow in Toronto as a concept model in the year 2006. It is available with a new rotary hybrid system which has been specially designed by the company featuring a new direct-injection, a generator, two-rotor engine along with a motor and a battery. The battery has been placed between the engine and firewall along with the compact rotary front-midship layout of the engine. This type of placement is useful in distributing the weight of the vehicle by 50/50 along with a low center of gravity. The Mazda Senku hybrid system is also available with an idling-stop system which helps in increasing the economy and emissions. It also features a dry twin-plate clutch and 7-speed transmission. The front suspension has double wishbones and the rear suspension has a multilink setup. The vehicle has a new type of multi-frame body construction which also supports the engine and front suspension. It has been designed to save weight as well as to improve impact safety over the conventional chassis rail system. The Mazda Senku B-pillars have been fitted behind the sliding doors to maintain sufficient body rigidity. The vehicle has a seating capacity for two passengers and there is a lot space behind the seats which can be used as for storage or also add two more seats. The interior is also stylish which is finished in red leather along with instruments including sat-nav system, steering wheel, speedometer and tachometer.
