

The Volvo 480 Turbo is a 4-seat, 3-door hatchback model that was marketed as a coupe from the year 1986 to 1995. It is available with different engine options such as a 1.7 liter engine producing 108 to 118 hp along with a torque of 129 lb-ft and another 2.0 engine was available that was able to generate about 108 hp along with 122 lb-ft of torque. The vehicle also featured a standard 4-speed automatic transmission along with a front wheel drive option. This model was able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 8.6 seconds along with an estimated top speed of around 124 mph. The Volvo 480 Turbo was introduced with a wheelbase of 2502 mm, length of 4258 mm, width of 1710 mm, height of 1316 mm and it also weighed about 2293 lb. The car was available with servo-assisted diagonally split along with front and rear discs. It also featured rack-and-pinion along with speed dependant power steering, independent McPherson, anti-roll bar, coil springs, panhard rod and Watt-link trailing arm along with beam axle. The Volvo 480 Turbo was a surprise for most of the buyers as it featured powerful engine, short rear overhang and light weight. The same platform has been used to develop other models from the company such as Volvo 440 and 460. This was the first model produced by Volvo with a sport back style which also featured a sporty design along with advanced electronics.
