

The Renault Torino is a mid-sized car that was produced from the year 1966 to 1982 as a 2-door hardtop coupe and 4-door sedan. It was available with different engine options such as a 3.0 liter engine with 3-speed transmission, 3.0 liter engine with a Holley carburetor and a 4-speed ZF manual gearbox and 3.77 liter engine that produced 215 hp along with a top speed of 127 mph. This model was developed on the same hybrid AMC platform till 1981 and it was also called as Argentina’s national car. The Renault Torino was available with a wheelbase of 2723 mm, length of 4,492-5800 mm, width of 1,680 mm, height of 1,300 mm and it had a weight of around 2,337 lb. The car was very successful in Argentina and it also took part in international races against many popular sport cars. The central body section of this model was based on the 63-64 Rambler Classic and its engine along with trunk compartments was similar to the 64-65 American. The rear coil suspension is also based on the Classic which featured four-link setup. The Renault Torino was distinguished with its front unibody frame rails that extended all the way back under the model to front of the rear rails. The front end, rear fascia as well as the interior of the car was redesigned by Italian auto stylists to give it a European look that was more appealing to the Argentine public.
