

The 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP.R was introduced in the GT class of 2007 Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series. This model starts a new edition of the company in a very successful racing campaign. It is available with a racing version of the LS2 V-8 engine that is capable of producing about 450 hp along with a 5-speed sequential transmission and rear wheel drive option. The front and rear suspension featured double wishbones. The bodywork has the silhouette of a production G6 GXP, but lightweight and carbon-fiber replica panels have been used to develop this model which is expected to reduce the overall weight. The 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP.R is available with a wheelbase of 2852 mm, length of 4904 mm, width of 1879 mm, height of 1343 mm and it has a weight of about 2806.5 lbs. The car also has brakes with ventilated and cross-drilled discs. The body panels have been attached to a custom tube-frame chassis along with front and rear fenders which is flared to cover the wide, 18 inch wheels as well as class-spec Hoosier racing tires. The 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP.R has been introduced with a lighter, shatter-resistant polycarbonate pieces instead of stock window glass. It also has a huge rear wing that provides stabilizing downforce has been tied into the chassis. This model was specially developed to carry the momentum of the GTO.R model that was withdrawn from racing after winning the 2006 GT championship.
