

The Citroen Berlingo Electric is a battery-powered vehicle that was introduced at the Hanover Motor Show and it is used by the French postal service. The vehicle is available with a 162 V Saft NiCd battery and a 28 kW Leroy Somer electric motor. It is capable of reaching a top speed of around 59 mph along with a maximum range of 59 miles in typical driving. This model was developed from the outset as a petrol, diesel and electric powered vehicle. The controls and instrumentation in this vehicle is also very similar to a petrol or diesel van. The Citroen Berlingo Electric is available with a direct drive transmission and it has in effect only one forward gear that helps from 0-70 mph. The vehicle features a large energy meter in the interior which shows remaining energy and there is an on board controller that monitors the Amp-hours in and out of the battery. The vehicle is available with petrol driven heater that is fully integrated into vehicle which is expected to reduce the battery usage. It typically takes 5 to 10 minutes to warm and provides excellent cabin heating. The Citroen Berlingo Electric petrol driven heater takes only few minutes to run down which will also operate even when the ignition is turned off. The vehicle has power assisted brakes, dedicated vacuum pump and a power steering. This model is available in different places all over the world such as United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway and Belgium.
