The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona is a high-performance, limited-edition car that was specially developed to win high profile NASCAR races. It was available with two different engine options such as 7.0 liter V8 engine and a 7.2 liter V8 engine that was able to generate about 425hp at 5,000rpm along with a torque of 490 lb-ft at 4,000rpm. This model also had a 4-speed manual or 3-speed automatic Torqueflite 727 transmission. The car had a special body modification that included 580 mm stabilizer wing at the rear deck, a flush rear backlight, specific front fenders, a special sheet-metal nose cone instead of the traditional upright front grille and a window cap to cover recessed rear window. The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona was developed on the Dodge Charger’s 500 trim specifications which had a heavy-duty suspension, brake setup and a 440 CID Magnum engine was available as standard. The hood of the car was modeled after the upcoming 1970 Charger which featured stainless steel A-pillar covers and fender mounted tire clearance or brake cooling scoops. The 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona rear wind was about 58 inches wide and stood 2 ft in the air over the deck lid. The exterior was available with an 18 inch steel nose cone, big nose that helped to improve efficiency as well as to provide downforce during high speeds to reduce the chance of liftoff. At present, this model has become a very rare and valuable collectible.
