

The Ferrari 312B is a Formula One racing car that was produced from the year 1970 to 1975. It was powered by a 2,992 cc naturally aspirated, mid-engine that was able to generate about 460 bhp at 12,000 rpm along with a rear longitudinal overhanging 5-speed gearbox. The car was available with features such as a rear-wheel drive, multi-plate limited-slip differential and Borg & Beck multi-plate clutch. The front suspension had double wishbones, lower wishbone, anti-roll bar, upper rocker arm, inboard spring/damper units and the rear suspension featured reversed lower wishbone, upper arm, 2 radius arms, anti-roll bar. The Ferrari 312B was introduced with a wheelbase of 2,385 mm, length of 4,020 mm, width of 742 mm, height of 956 mm and it had a weight of around 551 kg. The car had a horizontal boxer layout that allowed a very low center of gravity and a clear airflow under the rear wing. This model had a monocoque body, partially stress-bearing engine and aluminum panels riveted on a tubular steel structure. The Ferrari 312B was a success in as a racing model as it was able to win more races. To reduce the frictional losses there was a crankshaft that revolved in 4 main bearings. There were several versions developed by the company under this series which includes 312B, 312B2 and 312B3. The car ended its career after participating in the Spanish GP and it was replaced by the second version in the series.
