

The 1957 Jaguar XKSS is a road version of the Jaguar D-Type racing car and it was introduced at the New York Auto Show. The car has been powered by a 3.4 liter engine that was able to produce about 250 bhp at 6000 rpm and a torque of 240 ft-lbs at 4500 rpm along with a 4 speed manual transmission. It was able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 5.2 seconds along with an estimated top speed of around 142 mph. This model was available with special features such as an extra seat, a full-width windscreen, folding top and another door. The 1957 Jaguar XKSS was introduced with a wheelbase of 2,300 mm, length of 3,990 mm, width of 1,660 mm, height of 1,120 mm and it also weighed about 2,030 lb. After the end of 1955 season, there were few completed and partially complete D-type models that remained unsold which were used by the company build the full road-going version. Only slight changes were made to suit the suit road conditions. The 1957 Jaguar XKSS also featured side screens on driver and passenger doors, fabric roof, chromed bumpers, thin chrome strips were added at the edge of front light fairings and rear light clusters were mounted higher on the wings. About 16 units were produced by the company and most of them were sold only in USA. This model was also owned by actor Steve McQueen for personal use.
