

The Jaguar SS 90 is a 4-seat sports car that was developed in the year 1935. It was available with a 2663 cc 6-cylinder side-valve Standard engine that is capable of producing about 68 bhp at 4000 rpm along with a 4-speed manual transmission and a rear wheel drive option. The car was capable of reaching from 0-60 mph in about 17.5 seconds along with an estimated top speed of around 90 mph. The front suspension featured beam axle, semi-elliptic leaf springs, Andre Telecontrol dampers and the rear suspension had a live axle. The Jaguar SS 90 was introduced with a wheelbase of 2641 mm, length of 3810 mm, width of 1600 mm, height of 1370 mm and it had a weight of about 2519 lbs. This model was able to receive attention for its elegant sporting styling and was considered to be a sporting fraternity as their performance. The car was directly based on the SS I model and it was developed by reducing about 15 inches shorter than the saloon’s chassis. The Jaguar SS 90 was not tested independently and its exact performance figures are not known. This model was followed by Jaguar SS 100 which was available with similar styling as well as suspension, but it featured a different type of engine. About 23 units were developed by the company during the production period and one of them was owned by Hugh Kennard from the year 1938 till 1940.
