

The Mazda Sassou is a concept vehicle that was first introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the year 2005. The name SASSOU means having a positive state of mind in Japanese term. This model was considered to be a futuristic look at the next B-class vehicle produced by the company. It is available with a 1.0 liter, 3-cylinder DISI turbo gasoline engine along with aerodynamic techniques to lower drag. The vehicle also shows the potential of Mazda B-car to meet the strict European CO2 regulations in the future. It also has a new idling stop feature which automatically shuts down the engine to prevent idling. The Mazda Sassou is considered to be a lightweight and fuel-efficient urban vehicle which was expected to attract the young as well as first car buyers. The interior is available with USB stick, interface port for programming hard disc drive and unique morphing back seating system with compressed air. The seating configuration can be changed with center seating for one, side seating for two and there is a flat-fold seating which provides storage space for carrying larger items. The Mazda Sassou exterior features include a large grille along with chevron shaped headlight graphics. The car has been designed with a unique use of exterior and interior materials based on the Shoji principle. Shoji screens are thin Japanese doors which are made of ricepaper and the attributes of the vehicle has been hidden within the body which is revealed by an illumination system.
