Infiniti is not only car from the all luxury division of the Nissan brand. It is a strong brand that wants to strengthen its position by diversifying all kind of things.

For now, JX is only a concept car, which is basically a preview of the production model tha will be launched in the spring of 2012. So Infiniti is preparing to offer a luxury crossover that will provide space for seven people on three rows of seats. JX concept was presented in the elegant event of Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. In terms of design, JX obviously borrows lines from Essence but adapted a model that emphasizes space. Most of the Infiniti team of engineers says that this segment is part of a luxury crossover with three rows of seats abd it has the most spectacular increasement on the market, therefore they want a slice of this cake. Internally, they focused on the area and provide access to third row.

The second row seats slide over a distance of 14 cm, allowing access to the rear seats without the need of folding the median seats. At first, Infiniti will offer a system called the JX Backup Collision Intervention. This system will monitor activity behind the car when reverse is engaged. If the system detects objects, people, vehicles in areas devoid of visibility for the driver, it activates automatically the brake systems. JX will provide permanent four-wheel drive. More information will be offered in November at the Los Angeles salon where it will be presented the series of this version.

Interestingly, practicality is lacking, the trunk is roomy enough for a specially designed set of Louis Vuitton handbags.

The coupe has a hybrid system with an outcome power that reaches 600 hp. The gasoline engine is a 3.7 liter V6 equipped with two turbochargers and develops 440 hp. The electric motor designed by new the new “3D Motor” technology, develops 160 horsepower and is very compact and placed between the combustion engine and transmission.

Infiniti G37 Coupe IPL is the first representative car from Infiniti Performance Division Performance Line. Is it a threat to the classics of this segment?

From now on, the new sport versions for enthusiasts of limousines or the coupe and have to remember an acronym: IPL. Although it doesn’t sound as good as AMG, RS or M, you have to get to used to it, meaning Infiniti Performance Line, is the top performance scale of the Japanese brand. And the first model which opens the new Infiniti G37 Coupe division is the IPL.
But do not expect that the G37 Coupe IPL will argue directly with the BMW M3 or C63 AMG RS5 and still closer to S5 or 335i. The 3.7-liter engine V6 that has just a calibrated software and produces 18 hp more, so it is around around 348 hp. But if we ignore the “who is greater”, G37 IPL promises to be an authentic car driver, being offered with a manual gearbox with six short reports, or a seven automatic gearbox with paddles, a differential, Bridgestone Potenza RE50 tires, a stronger suspension and improved brakes with four piston calipers in the front and two in the back.

IPL is different enough from the aesthetic level of a standard G37 with a more aggressive kit, which seems to cut air with the front spoiler and side sills were shaped like a carved katana blades (traditional Japanese sword). Rear spoiler is integrated on the same line, but attention will be captured by the two discharges much larger in diameter.
