The Maserati Kyalami is a 4-seater notchback coupe that was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1977 and was produced till the year 1983. It was available with 2 engine options such as 4.2 litre V-8 engine that is able to generate about 255 hp and a 4.9 litre-V8 engine that is capable of producing about 290 hp. The car also features a 5-speed manual transmission or a 3-speed automatic transmission. It has been named after the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit which located in South Africa. The Maserati Kyalami has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm, length of 4,610 mm, width of 1,870 mm, height of 1,320 mm and it also weighs about 3,700 lb. The interior was modified to get a Maserati element including the steering wheel and instrumentation. The front and rear end was modified to create a unique Maserati feel for the car. The performance of the car was really very good because of its abundant power as well as torque that is produced by the engine. The Maserati Kyalami performance was also very good compared to all its contemporary competitors during that period. The car also had well balanced and stiff chassis which offered excellent body control, agile along with easy to control handling. About 155 units have been originally produced, but there are other sources which say the number is higher than what is actually mentioned. The car failed to become a successful model which was not expected by the company.
